About Coppercod

Coppercod was founded in late 2016 and quickly became the passion project of a web developer who wanted to create card games that could challenge himself and his partner in a way that nothing else in the app store could. They began with their two favorite games to play offline, German Whist and Gin Rummy . The games became a training ground for a competitive couple, and after four years of playing online they still love to win against the AIs, and against each other off screen.

From there, Coppercod only grew as it combined two great passions for playing card games and creating fun and engaging apps. Building AIs inspired by the playing patterns of his partner, Hearts , Oh Hell! and Spades were added to the roster in 2017, followed over the next two years by Game of Pure Strategy , Klondike Solitaire and Classic Whist . In late 2020, Coppercod went from a hobby to a new small business adventure and launched one of their two requested card games, Classic Rummy and Bid Whist .

Coppercod’s love of card games began in childhood, sitting around the table and playing games on family holidays, including some of the games recreated in our apps! In adulthood, they began to share their most enjoyed games with friends and start new card playing traditions, as well as a few furious competitions. The card games built into Windows computers used to be the perfect place for entertainment, procrastination and learning strategy to beat the AIs. No longer automatically built into operating systems, Coppercod recreated addictive old favorites Hearts and Solitaire out of nostalgia.

While some games created were born long-held family traditions, some were completely new challenges, like GOPS , having to first learn the game inside out before developing a competent and challenging AI opponent. With each card game, though the strategy and development is different, the goals are the same: to create an AI that will challenge even the most avid card game players, to inspire our competitive natures and above all to create a fun and enjoyable playing experience.
